Solution can track and analyse malware activity for better security

With malware and other cyber threats increasing even faster than preventive measures, cyber security company Sourcefire, Inc. is offering enterprises a more systematic way of combatting the problem.

Sourcefire offers its Advanced Malware Protection portfolio, which is capable of tracking the cyber threats on any part of the network and system. With Network File Trajectory and Device Trajectory capabilities, the solutions also detect the point of entry of the malware, track it across the network and system, and study its behaviour to prevent further spread.

Sourcefire said these features are important in any enterprise because of the sophistication with which malware is introduced into cyber space these days. The company also noted that new trends in computing, such as bring your own device (BYOD), connecting mobile devices to the corporate network, and big data, are also posing threats to enterprises.

"Even organisations which are diligent in their security measures realise that breaches are entirely too likely in the face of modern threats and they need solutions that help them deal with malware before, during and after an attack," said Martin Roesch, Sourcefire founder and CTO. "The enhanced trajectory features in our Advanced Malware Protection portfolio provide customers with decisive insight when a breach occurs and extend Sourcefire's innovative Retrospective Security with the ability to immediately locate and eradicate malicious files everywhere they surface."

The Advanced Malware Protection (AMP) portfolio includes software, appliance and services, namely the FireAMP, FireAMP Virtual, FireAMP Mobile, AMP for FirePOWER, and AMP Appliance.

The Network File Trajectory capability is available as part of Sourcefire's Advanced Malware Protection for FirePOWER software licence, a comprehensive malware-defeating solution for networks.

Device Trajectory is available as part of the FireAMP host-based protection available for endpoints and virtual networks.

The Sourcefire Incident Response team is also available to customers to help them diagnose, identify and remediate risks using Sourcefire technology.
