DDOS via smart devices is next global cyber threat, warns Malaysian hacker: exclusive

As governments advocate higher IoT adoption and more homes incorporate smart devices, the risk of the next DDOS cyber threat coming from bot-controlled smart devices is rising exponentially.

"This we do via a simple penetration test, a form of security check that is performed on a target in order to identify potential vulnerabilities," he said, adding that the company, which started operations in 2005, also performed full IT security testing and ISO 27001 implementation for corporations looking to secure their internal networks while adhering to data protection regulations (PDPA) in keeping customer information safe.

"Over the past 11 years, we have mainly served clients in the financial services sectors including government agencies and regulatory authorities, but today, hackers no longer distinguish targets by sector anymore," Fong said. "Whether you are a bank, eCommerce marketplace or even a news site, you could be attacked."
