Cyber security solution offers multiple defences in one

Advanced threats, phishing and malware can be prevented, says Websense.

With the sophistication and speed of deployment of today's cyber security threats, a software developer has recently introduced a security solution that hopes to prevent most of these threats.

Websense said its new TRITON solution can defend IT systems from the advanced malware and data theft threats, including phishing. TRITON even comes with a forensic reporting dashboard with in-depth security intelligence and visibility necessary to understand which individuals are subject to attacks, cyber crime tactics and methods, attack communications and destinations, and what data is being targeted.

Websense said TRITON features the Websense ACE (Advanced Classification Engine) that has 10 new defences that can stop data theft and loss. Some of these defences include detecting criminal encrypted uploads; advanced malware payloads and command-and-control recognition; optical character recognition (OCR) of text within images for data-in-motion; drip (stateful) DLP (data loss protection) detection; password file theft detection; and geolocation awareness.

To defend users against phishing, Websense has included cloud sandboxing capability that identifies suspicious links in e-mails. TRITON can analyse the embedded URLs included in the e-mail once the link has been opened, the company said.

Forensics

TRITON also features a malware threat dashboard that profiles security incidents and provides in-depth forensics, and data theft capture. On its website, Websense claimed that its malware protection has over 94 percent blocking capability when tested against a database of more than 6,700 malicious URLs.

"No matter what you are running - anti-virus, URL filtering, next generation firewalls - cyber criminals may find a way in and will establish command and control communication to steal your data," said John McCormack, president, Websense. "Our advanced malware and data theft protection measures set a heightened standard for security and forensic reporting. Our technology is designed to retain and contain your most sensitive data, while providing you with the visibility necessary to understand how significant the threat to your organisation truly is and what cyber criminals are targeting."

Websense said TRITON unifies threat defence and data theft prevention into a cohesive content security system. It is a solution for Web security, e-mail, mobile, and DLP with a unified management console. It works even on cloud computing and enterprise systems.
