Cloud Security Primer 2017 - The Latest Thinking in Cloud Security

Richard Pain | May 19, 2017
As the cloud adoption gathers momentum across Asia, we explore latest thinking regarding cloud computing in terms of security, uptime and liability.

The Future of Cloud Reliability and Liability

Europe's forthcoming GDPR and Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act have both criminalised the improper protection and leakage of third party data. This legislation and potential fines have served as an important wake up call to security departments and senior business leaders to meet their data protection obligations.

Similar legislation will soon be codified and introduced in Indonesia and Thailand, which will further incentivise better data security practices, as well as make cloud adoption an attractive option, not just for the efficiency and agility it can provide, but because of its security benefits too.

That is not to say that migrating to the cloud solves all security problems, as mentioned above, but it can help companies better manage their IT governance and data security when paired with a holistic IT security framework, since as with everything with IT security, any technology is just one part of the solution.
