SAP and Sybase have teamed up on mobilising business processes and business information across key industries including manufacturing, consumer products, utilities, high tech, oil and gas, and retail.
Both companies have launched a series of new mobile apps built on Sybase Unwired Platform.
This announcement seems to come at the right time as a Forrester Research survey published on 3 September 2010 indicates that more than 60 per cent of companies will make mobile applications a priority over the next 12 months.
The survey also shows that about 75 per cent of organisations deploy mobile applications to increase worker productivity. About 42 per cent of firms told the research firm that overall improved customer satisfaction is an important driver of mobilising applications.
New mobile apps from SAP and Sybase are expected to drive short-term, bottom-line results for businesses and employees across key industries.
Packaged mobile apps
SAP and Sybase have announced several new mobile apps: SAP Field Service mobile app, SAP Retail Execution mobile app and SAP EAM Work Order mobile app.
The companies are developing new employee productivity mobile apps that aim to enable employees to remain highly productive.
"Over the past 18 months, SAP has been releasing technologies enabling the rapid creation and deployment of mobile apps through our platform and development tools," said Horace Chow, vice president, Sybase Asia Pacific.
"Today, we are announcing several packaged mobile apps that will drastically reduce the costs and time needed for organisations to implement a mobility strategy. Enterprise mobility is a phenomenon that transcends all borders in the workplace and SAP is out in front of this trend as it revolutionises the mobile space by making mobile the new desktop."
