Silicon Valley's Ruckus Wireless has scored another deal with a hotel group to provide wireless Internet services for guests and hotel operations.
The company said FRHI Holdings (FRHI) is deploying its ZoneFlex Smart Wi-Fi products and technologies across its hotel group, which includes the Fairmont, Raffles, and Swissôtel brands.
The hotel group is the latest installation for Ruckus Wireless which counts other known brands among its sites. These other brands include Starwood, Hyatt, Marriott, Mandarin Oriental and Kimpton Hotels.
Ruckus Wireless noted that hotels in recent years have been providing their guests wireless services given the increasing number of people with mobile devices. Their clients say wireless connectivity is one of the key services in hotels that guests consider when choosing their accommodations.
"We view recent innovations in the wi-fi space as an opportunity to truly redefine the guest experience," said Vineet Gupta, senior vice president of technology, FRHI. "Wi-fi is no longer just a casual hotspot service for our guests; it's an integral aspect of their stay. Given its popularity, performance and relatively low cost, wi-fi has quickly become a strategic tool that we can use to improve guest service, satisfaction and business operations."
For the FRHI group, the dual-band ZoneFlex 7962 and 7363 will be deployed for indoor access points with ZoneFlex 7762 dual-band outdoor access points. These access points will be managed by the centralised ZoneDirector controllers.
Gupta said its chain of hotels requires a "simple and flexible" wireless system to deploy. "As a leading hotelier, we are constantly looking to innovate in this area with new products and technologies that provide our guests the best possible, untethered experience," said Gupta.
FRHI said the deployment will happen across its properties throughout the year.
Aside from providing guests high speed Internet access during their stay, Ruckus Wireless' technologies will also be used to improve other guest-related services, such as curb-side check in, in-room controls, and wireless VoIP for inter-staff communications.
