Nexus 5X update packs in fixes for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and performance issues

Derek Walter | March 10, 2016
Google is packaging together the fixes with its regular monthly security update.

The March update for the Nexus 5X does a lot more than provide just the usual round of security patches.

A Googler took to Reddit with a few details about several fixes for some nagging bugs to be squashed in this update. The post specifically identified:

  • General slow/sluggish performance
  • Do Not Disturb next alarm disappearing issue
  • Bluetooth/Wi-Fi improvements
  • Carrier-specific bug fixes<

The over-the-air update should hit your Nexus 5X soon, but you’ll just have to be patient as these tend to roll out in stages.  Android Police spotted a new toggle in the developer settings for a cooler color temperature. If you’ve been battling some sluggishness or other problems, perhaps this will be just what you need.

The factory images are available now if you just can’t wait and want to dig through all that’s there.

The impact on you: Issues like these are a pain, but they’re bound to happen from time to time as even the most high-end of devices experience software weirdness, Along with good maintenance, there’s a little more riding on the Nexus 5X right now since Google slashed the price as part of a promotion for Project Fi ditching invites.
