SINGAPORE, 22 AUGUST 2008 At the stroke of midnight (precisely at 12.01am, 22 August), 27-year old Joel Pan became the first person to buy the iPhone 3G in Singapore.
Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) launched the highly anticipated iPhone 3G at its Comcentre headquarters at 31 Exeter Road at the unusual time to maximize publicity.
According to SingTel, the Comcentre extended its usual opening hours on Thursday, especially for the launch.
SingTel has said that iPhone 3G will be sold at all hello! Stores from Monday, 25 August. The iPhone 3G will be available for as low as $0, if attached to two-year contracts on new or existing plans, said the Telco.
It has already been reported that users who buy the phones won't get support for visual voicemail or access to videos and music sold on the iTunes Store.
