Lazada partners WeChat to enhance mobile shopping experience

Users will stand to enjoy exclusive discounts and deals for Lazada’s December 12 festive sale.

Online retailer Lazada has launched an official WeChat account in Singapore.

By subscribing to the account, WeChat users can get the latest news and promotions from Lazada and experience a fast and effortless shopping experience via the mobile messaging application.

Martell Hardenberg, CEO of Lazada Singapore, commented that more than half of its traffic comes from its mobile platforms, and that the company is constantly seeking ways to enhance its customers' mobile experience.

"The potential for online and mobile retailing is unprecedented. We are very excited to work together with renowned labels such as Lazada and to provide WeChat fans with an unparalleled shopping experience through this partnership," said Poshu Yeung, Vice President of International Business Group at Tencent, the company behind the WeChat app.

In its joint media statement, Lazada and WeChat said that its users will stand to enjoy exclusive discounts and deals. For instance, on December 12, Lazada will be offering shoppers 24 hours of promotions and exclusive deals across a wide range of categories. Specifically, special night promotions will be available between 12am and 8am, and thereafter, shoppers can take advantage of bargain prices with hourly flashes all the way till midnight.

WeChat users will also receive an exclusive voucher code on the same day for the said Lazada sale. To enjoy these discounts, users simply need to follow Lazada on their official WeChat account (LazadaSG), and copy the voucher code found on the account when checking out purchase on Lazada.SG.
