Key partners signed on as Asus launches new Z range of devices

Computer Alliance, Centrecom, JW Computers and PLE are among the first existing partners picked by Asus to offer its new range of Zen notebooks and tablets.

The vendor has unveiled three new products, the ZenBook 3 notebook, Transformer 3 Pro 2-in-1, and the ZenBook Flip UX360 notebook, all set for retail release in October 2016.

Asus has a strong pedigree in the education and gaming sectors, but is making a push into the mainstream consumer and business markets with the new offerings, targeting the likes of HP, Dell and Apple.

It will make all three products available through its distribution partners Avnet, Ingram Micro, and Synnex.

The 12.5-inch ZenBook 3 is the most portable in the range with a thickness of 11.9mm and weighing 910 grams. It includes Intel 7th Gen Core i5 or i7 processor, 8GB RAM, up to 512GB SSD, Harman Kardon tuned speakers, and USB Type-C port.

The device will also be sold through retail partners Bing Lee and Harvey Norman, with the latter getting exclusive rights to sell the ZenBook 3 in rose gold. All partners will be offered the device in blue.

The Transformer 3 Pro T303 is Asus’ Surface Pro challenger and includes an i5 or i7 processor, up to 16GB RAM, a 512GB SSD, 3K display, and Harman Kardon audio system. The device includes a stylus pen and keyboard as standard.

The ZenBook Flip is a 13.3-inch, 1.3kg notebook with a 360 degree rotatable screen. It features a 6th Gen i5 or i7 processor, 8GB RAM, up to 512GB SSD, Full-HD (1920 by 1080) resolution, and USB Type-C.

The device is offered through JB Hi-Fi, Bing Lee and channel partners at launch.
