How to fix an iPhone or iPad that won't download emails

Sometimes Mail on an iPhone or iPad refuses to show or download an email, displaying only the first line of the message and saying 'This message has not been downloaded from the server'. Here's how to fix this problem and see the email in full

Now it's a good idea to make sure you're using the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software Update and check to see if a new version of iOS is available. If so, plug in your iOS device and go through the update process.

Delete Mail account

If you're still having problems then it could be due to your Mail settings. Rather than dig through each and every setting, it's usually easier to just delete your Mail account and set it up again.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Tap on the account you're having trouble with.
  4. Tap Delete Account and Delete in the alert window.
  5. Tap Add Account.
  6. Choose the account from the list and enter your details.

This should set the Mail account up with its new settings.
