Blinkbox adds download feature for iPad users: Coming to Android soon

Chris Martin | Nov. 24, 2014
Blinkbox has added a download feature for iPad users allowing offline viewing but there are a few catches.

Blinkbox has announced a much wanted download feature for its users of the iPad app.

The news means that at long last, users can download movies and TV shows for offline viewing - anywhere and without the need for a data connection. Blinkbox Movies users need only update the app to gain the ability.

"Tired of reading second-hand newspapers on the daily commute? Going on holiday and want to catch up on your favourite TV shows? Trying to keep your delighted and entertained on a long car trip? If you're one of blinkbox's iPad users, these problems are now a thing of the past!," said Blinkbox in a blog post.

Once the app is up-to-date users can download any purchased or rented TV shows or films with the arrow icon. However, you still can't make purchases through the app so this must be done online in a browser. There are a few clauses to bear in mind with the download feature. Firstly, you'll need a UK Wi-Fi connection when downloading content. That's not really a big deal but if you download a rental title, you won't be able to watch it on any other device, including the Google Chromecast.

The other detail is that your iPad must be connected to a UK-based Wi-Fi connection at least once every 30 days for the purpose of keeping licenses up-to-date.

Blinkbox has confirmed to PC Advisor that the download feature will arrive for Android users very soon.
