Are iPads and iPhones the future business desk phones?

Nurdianah Md Nur | May 7, 2013
A ShoreTel Dock and an iPhone or iPad with the ShoreTel Mobility app are all you need to ‘create’ a business desk phone.

ShoreTel Dock
Slide your iPhones and iPads (loaded with the ShoreTel Mobility app) into the ShoreTel Dock and you'll get a fully-functional desk phone.

Apple mobile devices may soon replace traditional business desk phones as the former could serve the same purpose when coupled with the ShoreTel Dock.

By sliding iPads or iPhones that are running the ShoreTel Mobility app into the docking station, users could use those devices to utilise voice, instant messaging, presence and conferencing just like a traditional business desk phone.

Users can place and answer calls by picking up the handset and dial a number on the dial pad or on the device's screen.

Since ShoreTel Mobility works over both wi-fi and cellular, the ShoreTel Dock can be deployed anywhere and users can be reached on their same extension whether they are working at their office or at home.

The battery life of the iPad or iPhones mounted on the docking station will not be compromised too as the ShoreTel dock automatically keeps the Apple handheld devices charged.

The ShoreTel Dock is scheduled to be available in Q3 2013 for both premise-based and cloud platforms at US$349.
