Android is now the world's largest platform for mobile ad traffic, according to Opera Mediaworks which recently announced the release of its Q1 2014 State of Mobile Advertising Report.
A press statement by the Silicon Valley-based subsidiary of the Norwegian vendor, Opera Software ASA said this development marks the first time Android phones have grabbed traffic leadership away from iPhone.
Android vs. iPhone
The press statement said Android OS mobile devices captured 42.8% of ad traffic worldwide as against iPhone's 32.8 %.
At the same time, Android OS ad monetisation accounted for 33% of revenues as compared to 26.7% at this time in 2013.
However, the press statement gave no monetary figures.
Likewise, Samsung phones garnered more than 60% of impressions for Android mobile devices.
Trailing Samsung were LG, Motorola, HTC and ZTE.
