Late last year, the company strengthened its leadership in APAC. Why was that necessary?
APAC has consistently been a hotbed for growth for the company. In the last five years, Zebra experienced growth rates of about five-fold in headcount and more than three-fold in market presence across the region - India and China alone saw 130 percentage and 158 percentage increase in revenue respectively. Our efforts to reengage channel partners have resulted in a renewed confidence in our team, most notably in China where sales of Enterprise products were up sharply.
Cities and enterprises across APAC are expected to embark on more deployment of asset-intelligence solutions, signalling even greater potential for growth, development and collaboration with local partners for Zebra Technologies in the region. Asian technology buyers see that our product offers real value and that the acquisition of the Enterprise business presents greater opportunities for their businesses to grow and develop as smart enterprises. We have made much progress in 2015 and are even more excited about the future opportunities for growth and value creation. We have thus developed a strong leadership team in APAC in response to the region's demand for smarter solutions.
How has the company been growing in APAC? What are your future plans for the region?
To date, Asia Pacific represents about 11% of our total sales. It is one of our fastest-growing regions. As part of the transformation process, we have brought more Zebra personnel together. Among our consolidated facilities is the APAC headquarters in Singapore, and we with plans to streamline additional operations through facilities, consolidation has already been announced and will be implemented over the next several months.
We have sales offices and other facilities in other countries in the region as well-these include China, India, Japan, Korea and Australia. Our customers in the region include leading manufacturers, as well as a growing number of customers in retail, healthcare and transportation & logistics. We are optimistic about seeing more partnerships from the APAC region. Singapore is a great market for us as many multinational and financial services companies have relocated their IT leadership and technology decision makers to Singapore. Customers we are engaged with in Singapore often are not only making the key supply chain decisions for Asia but also for the rest of the world.
We recently reaffirmed our commitment to ramp up momentum for our Wireless LAN solutions for partners and customers in Asia Pacific. At the company's recent Global Partner Summit, Zebra shared how its WLAN portfolio will continue to serve as one of the company's key solution offerings for a region that is brimming with opportunities from the rapid adoption and deployment of Internet-of-Things (IoT).
