For most of the UCC applications, decision-makers said cost is a barrier to investment. Asked to identify the "most serious challenge" to UCC application, respondents chose cost as a major issue. From a list of UCC applications, between 24 percent and 30 percent of respondents count cost as an issue. Following close behind are the responses citing organisational and decision-making issues. From 24 percent to 27 percent of respondents cited these as issues.
Despite the challenges, those still in doubt about implementing UCC are advised to act soon.
"Enterprises that don't have - or have plans - to adopt UCC technologies, are increasingly finding themselves in a minority," Burdan said.
The report noted that UCC applications have become mainstream in the last few years and that there's growing interest in the areas of social collaboration, mobile UC and standard UC.
