Cyber security firm Symantec hosted its Partner Engage Conference in Hong Kong on 15 September acknowledging its channel partners from across the South Asia region. The event was in line with the enhanced Symantec Partner Program (eSPP) launched in April this year.
“Symantec is a channel-focused company and our Asia South partners play an important role in the success of Symantec,” said Symantec’s senior vice president for Asia Pacific and Japan, Bernard Kwok, in his keynote speech. He was addressing some 150 channel executives from across the region present for the conference. "We intend to continue to provide new opportunities for the channel for their success too,” he added.
The eSPP was designed to equip channel partners with specialised skills and provide opportunities for business growth, said Kwok. It includes a new criterion called Specialisations. Partners are intended to achieve specialisations in key technology areas namely Enterprise Security, Endpoint Management, Data Loss Prevention, IT Compliance, Data Protection, Archiving and eDiscovery, Storage Management, High Availability and Small and Mid-sized Business, by meeting pre-determined requirements, where they can build skills from Symantec's solutions and gain recognition in a focus area.
"Growth is the number one objective for organisations, and focus is an important factor from sustainable growth," indicated Kwok. “The eSPP, which includes specialisations provides (Symantec) partners an avenue for focus,” he highlighted.
“Asia Pacific and Japan was Symantec’s first geography globally to transition our partners to the eSPP, “added Symantec's vice president for channels and SMB in Asia Pacific and Japan, David Dzienciol.
Dzienciol said that through the specialisations, "partners can add superior value to their solutions and services and gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace.”
After the conference, Symantec presented awards to some of its valued channel partners in the region based on their ability to deliver high levels of services and solutions to customers during the past year, and their investment in Symantec.
Fourteen partner companies were recognised in 12 categories including NCS and BT Frontline who bagged the award for the Best Performing Partner of the Year in Singapore.
