Singapore Polytechnic Uses e-Cop’s CESM

F.Y. Teng | Jan. 4, 2013
The tertiary institution runs the Security Information and Event Management solution as the foundation of its new Cyberwatch Competency Centre.

Singapore Polytechnic, the republic’s first polytechnic established in 1954, announced Thursday (January 3, 2013) the launch of four learning spaces in its Cyber Wargame Centre, a facility specifically set up to enable the training of students in the practice of dealing with real-world cyber security threats and risks in “an authentic learning environment.”

Also announced was a partnership between the tertiary institution and e-Cop. Their agreement sees to it that at the core of one of these four learning spaces, the Cyberwatch Competency Centre, is the security vendor’s Cyclops Enterprise Security Manager (CESM), a security information and event management solution.

Representatives from both parties said at the time of announcement that they expect the new centre with the CESM as its foundation will offer students “hands-on experience” in using a specialised solution “to obtain insights into security incidents before, during and after they occur via multi-stage incident correlation, dynamic data mining and trend analysis.”

Commenting on his company’s newly established partnership with Singapore Polytechnic, the Chairman of e-Cop Group Noel Hon said, “We look forward to more of such partnerships with established education institutions…to develop the next generation of cyber security leaders.”
