Nurdianah Md Nur | Nov. 21, 2013
The partnership aims to help both countries develop their knowledge economies and provide them with a competitive edge.

The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and Telecommunications and Regulatory Authority of the UAE (TRA) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the "ITU Telecom World 2013" in Bangkok, Thailand.

The move aims to strengthen collaboration between the two countries in the field of telecommunications and ICT in the public and private sectors. Both countries will proactively exchange information relevant to eGovernment and ICT, as well as co-guide and co-consult on preliminary processes related to future enhancements.  They will also embark on joint research, and share information on new and existing technologies and the development of systems and tools

According to H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, director general of the TRA, the partnership will enable both Singapore and the UAE to "develop their knowledge economies, cement their competitive position and align their ICT infrastructure to keep pace with the demands of the modern era."
