Samsung opens doors for young Australians

Partnership with FYA to offer initiatives to improve engagement with communities.

Electronics manufacturer, Samsung Electronics Australia, has entered a three-year partnership with the Foundation for Young Australians (FYA) to launch Samsung Hope for Children in Australia.

FYA is a national not-for-profit organisation dedicated to servicing young people.

The program - Samsung's global social contribution program which launched in 2011 and operates in 30 markets - has been launched as both the vendor and FYA recognise traditional pathways and schooling are not sufficient in developing young Australians' ability to prepare and deal with changing work environments and challenges.

As a result, Samsung Hope for Children will contain a number of initiatives co-created and implemented between 2013 and 2015, commencing in August. These will be designed to improve student engagement and connection with Australian communities, and in the long run expects to build young people's resilience for future aspirations.

"Because of changing learning, work and life environments, we need to develop better ways to equip young Australians with the skills and capabilities they need to be successful and resilient in the future," FYA CEO, Jan Owen, said.

"Young Australians are looking for broader learning experiences and they expect flexible and engaging learning environments that use technology effectively."

Samsung Electronics Australia marketing director, Arno Lenior, said the vendor believes young people are more likely to succeed if they have multiple pathways and options available to them, and that the FYA partnership is an enabler of that.

The FYA agreement builds on Samsung's existing partnerships with Life Education and the World Education Games.
