This acquisition will help the company expand its commercial WiFi network business in Asia, said Panasonic.

Panasonic Asia Pacific Pte Ltd has acquired RFNET Technologies Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based custom wireless, surveillance and networking solutions company.

According to a media statement, Panasonic will own 51.9 percent of RFNET, following the completion of the acquisition in mid-January.

Terms of the transaction were, however, not disclosed.

Panasonic said that this acquisition will help expand its commercial WiFi network business in Asia. RFNET's product development capabilities, local market understanding, firm establishment in the public transportation and education sectors, will complement and expand Panasonic's infrastructure solution offerings across the region, it added.

The company also unveils its plans to grow its infrastructure system solution business in Asia. It said that it will focus on developing three infrastructure system solutions: commercial communication networking, intelligent transport solutions (ITS) and private wireless networking.
