Panalpina-a freight forwarding and logistics company-has tapped on communications services and solutions provider BT to manage and transform its global communications infrastructure.
The implementation of BT solutions will enable Panalpina's 15,000 employees to better collaborate and communicate with their customers. "As our single point of contact for communication services, BT will take away the burden of managing a multitude of different suppliers, and will make it easier for us to implement new services and to support our employees and customers around the globe," said Ralf Morawietz, CIO at Panalpina.
As part of the deployment of its solutions, BT will overhaul Panalpina'snetwork infrastructure-which is currently sourced from more than a dozen domestic and regional providers-and migrate it into a single integrated platform which will connect 500 offices in more than 75 countries.
In addition, BT will provide Panalpina with its BT One Voice portfolio to converge voice and data on a single platform.
Panalpina's new network-based on IP Connect and Internet Connect services of BT-will be a hybrid infrastructure. The services will also underpin the continued implementation of the new global enterprise resource planning (ERP) and transportation management systems of Panalpina.
BT will also add BT Connect Intelligence to provide an application-aware network architecture which is designed to support business applications.
