Singapore-based system integrator NCS has inked a deal with data management vendor Quantum to become the latter's first major regional channel partner.
NCS already distributes Quantum's products in Singapore, and the new agreement means that NCS will cover China, Australia and the ASEAN regions. NCS added that more markets will be covered over time.
According to NCS, it will incorporate Quantum's line of data protection and big data management products into its solution offerings including DXi backup and deduplication appliances, vmPRO virtualisation solutions, StorNext data management software and appliances, and Scalar tape libraries.
As part of the agreement, Quantum will develop a Centre of Excellence (COE) in NCS Singapore, providing training and necessary skill sets to enable NCS to support the regional business. The COE will make it easier for NCS to support both local customers intending to expand overseas and regional customers seeking relevant support as NCS can now tap into the COE for the necessary support.
"We recognise that the collaboration will complement our suite of capabilities to meet the new demands of our customers as we look to expand our solution offerings through leveraging new technologies such as analytics, mobility and sensing technologies," said Vincent Lim, vice president, NCS.
The partnership is likely to provide NCS more tools for its new initiative SURF (Solutions for an Urbanised Future). SURF incorporates technologies such as mobility, big data and analytics, machine-to-machine communications, sensing technology and social networking technologies in solution implementations in education, healthcare, transport as well as other key industry sectors.
