NCS, one of the region's top ICT solutions and services providers, has won major honours at the Singapore government's eGov Excellence Awards (GEA). The GEA 2013-which was jointly organised by the Singapore Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA)-saw more than 90 submissions from more than 45 government agencies in Singapore.
Six GEA Distinguished Winner awards and 12 Merit Winner awards were handed out on Tuesday (April 30, 2013). And three of them were given for projects NCS had worked in partnership with two major government agencies: the Land Transport Authority's (LTA's) MyTransport.SG mobile app and DataMall@MyTransport.SG, and the Ministry of Defence's (MINDEF's) NS Portal.
The LTA's MyTransport.SG mobile app, "which provides smart traffic information for commuters, motorists and cyclist in Singapore, [was] awarded Distinguished Winner in the mServices category, recognising excellence in mobile services for government," said NCS executives in a statement issued to the press on Tuesday. "DataMall@MyTransport.SG, an open data-sharing initiative by the LTA won Distinguished Winner n the Data Sharing category for its contributions towards the developer community."
And MINDEF's NS Portal was given the Merit Winner award for the Website category in recognition of "creative excellence of the portal," they said.
"To meet citizens' expectations, government agencies today are devoting greater focus on mobile and digital engagement planning,' said NCS' Head of Portal City Ng See Sing. "Our capabilities in developing mobility platforms and portals have served the needs of agencies such as LTA and MINDEF, helping them to stay connected to the public."
"We congratulate MINDEF and LTA for receiving [their] eGov Excellence Awards...as these are testimony to the value that the services bring to citizens," he said.
