Mahindra Satyam to develop IT system for India`s IRDA

IT system to be developed will allow surveyors to get their licences online.

One of India's top IT consulting and services companies has been selected by an Indian regulatory body to help develop an IT solution for an online registration and licensing system.

Mahindra Satyam, which operates globally, said it was picked by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDA) to develop a solution allowing surveyors to register online for their licences, and to view the status of their licence also online.

The solution is called the Integrated Surveyor License Management System (ISLMS) and intended to help automate the surveyor monitoring system for the IRDA. It will allow the regulatory body to track the performance of surveyors, empanelled companies and claims handled by them.

Mahindra Satyam said the deal is good for several years but did not specify how long it will take. Specific milestones and project cost were also not disclosed.

Continuing partnership

The project is the second between Mahindra Satyam and the IRDA. In November 2010, the IRDA tasked Mahindra Satyam to develop its SAP ERP system for human resource management, payroll, self-service portals, accounting modules, connected hardware and software. Mahindra Satyam is also expected to provide post-project implementation support.

Mahindra Satyam said it has been chosen again by the IRDA because of the global consulting company's ''innovation quotient''.
