Contract with Cargill paved the way for North Dakota expansion.

Global IT business provider Mahindra Satyam has recently expanded its presence in the US by opening a new delivery centre in Fargo, North Dakota, U.S.

The plan is to set up a near-shore delivery location in the U.S. Midwest via the Fargo facility which Mahindra Satyam will share with Cargill, an international producer and marketer of food, agricultural, financial & industrial products and services.

Cargill earlier chose Mahindra Satyam to be its business provider in North America. Mahindra Satyam will share space with Cargill in Cargill's Global Business Center in Fargo and from there expand its near-shore delivery business to be a regional delivery hub.

Mahindra Satyam said the Americas is an important region for their business, particularly for verticals such as banking and financial services, health and life sciences. Together, these growth areas make up more than 50 percent of the company's revenues from the Americas. Mahindra Satyam will be offering solutions in business processes and infrastructure management services and IT services.

"Mahindra Satyam has always believed in creating avenues for capacity and capability building in the markets that it operates in. The delivery centre in Fargo will act as a strong foundation for our flagship Talent Exchange Program across geographies which enable local talent to acquire diverse skills and business process knowledge, while delivering an outstanding customer experience," said Sujit Baksi, executive chairman, Mahindra Satyam BSG.

Global model

The near-shore delivery centre model Mahindra Satyam is setting up in the Americas is patterned after the company's similar centres in Europe and the United Kingdom.

The company sees the Fargo as a strategic location to expand its near-shore delivery model in the Americas because of the location's resources and competencies.

"It will be our endeavour to provide excellent opportunities for local talent as we look forward to enhancing customer delight and delivering cost effective yet path-breaking solutions to the North American market," said Lakshmanan Chidambaram, senior vice president, sales & operations, Americas, Mahindra Satyam.

For its part, Cargill sees in Mahindra Satyam a strategic partner.

"After a rigorous selection process, we have chosen Mahindra Satyam as our primary third-party service provider for North America," said Al Johnson, vice president, Cargill Global Business Services. "Mahindra Satyam has strong expertise in providing common business processes that meet Cargill's needs."
