Laptops close to 24hr battery life

Intel will launch its fourth-generation computer chips next month and they could extend the battery life of Windows notebooks to an estimated 24 hours.

Consumer electronics retailer JB HI-Fi upgraded its full-year profit forecast on May 3, following strong sales growth in the second half.

Chief executive Terry Smart said there was no overlap in the relationship between tablets and high-end computers.

"The great thing about more powerful processors is it continues to drive replacement for people looking for that style of PC, and we'll continue the tablet - really which in most cases is a secondary device," Mr Smart said.
