The Hong Kong Computer Society (HKCS) named on Sunday (December 2, 2012) the 27 local products it has nominated for the Asia Pacific Information and Communications Technology Awards 2012 (APICTA 2012). The annual APICTA is a recognition programme that seeks to honour major contributions to the ICT development and deployment in the region, and this year the evaluation of nominees for 14 award categories will be held in Brunei from Monday through Wednesday (December 3-5).
Out of the 27 nominees, 21 are winners of the HKICTA 2012 (this year's Hong Kong edition of the ICT awards programme), while the remaining six are highly notable winners of other local ICT awards.
In its Sunday announcement, the HKCS highlighted four out of the 27 products it had nominated.
- CherryPicks and Media Palette's iButterfly-a location-based coupon and content entertainment App platform and winner of the HKICTA 2012 Best Ubiquitous Networking Grand Award and Award of the Year.
- the Hospital Authority's Community Health Call Centre-a HKICTA 2012 Best innovation & Research Grand Award winner that uses a validated risk prediction model to support the management of targeted high risk elderly patients and thereby reduce hospital utilisation rates by 25-50 percent, as well as improve clinical outcomes.
- WeBuzz Limited's Facebook Page Interactive Marketing Solutions-a HKICTA 2012 Best Business Grand Award winning software-as-a-service platform that enables businesses to manage their social marketing programmes effectively.
- nwStor Limited's iSav Data Security Appliance-a Hong Kong Awards for Industries 2012 Technological Achievement Grand Award winner that sees to the comprehensive protection of data stored in network attached storage and file server setups.
