With the city being so compact and highly urbanized, Hong Kong not only has an opportunity to achieve even greater 'smart' credentials and sustainability, but can also become a model smart city for the rest of the world. But there's more work to be done.
How do we make this happen? It's never been so important for Hong Kong to collaborate, share knowledge and insights, and learn from the world's cities that are also forging ahead in this race. It's vital that we keep our smart city ambitions at the forefront of people's minds at all times across industry, academics and even in the minds of the younger generations, who will be carrying the torch and sustaining the developments we make in years to come.
We've seen this topic gain more and more awareness among the right people in recent years, and with events such as InnoAsia 2013 hosted by Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, where the theme is "Towards a Smart Green City Agenda", we know this will continue in the right direction in engaging all stakeholders to make Hong Kong the smartest city of them all.
