Mobile Game Asia, a business-to-business mobile game conference, will be held in Bangkok on 23 January this year.
Organised by the Global Mobile Game Confederation (GMGC), the conference aims to be the platform for game developers in Southeast Asia to share ideas and drive innovation as the mobile gaming industry grows in the region.
Southeast Asia is one of the fastest growing markets for mobile games, with an estimated market size of US$661 million in 2014. This figure is expected to double to US$1.2 billion within the next two years, driven by the "large number of mobile gamers and the development of a healthy ecosystem for game developers" in the region, said Maxim de Wit, GMGC's VP of International.
The full-day event will feature keynote and speakers from the Southeast Asia region, as well as notable companies such as Facebook, Google, and PayPal. Topics covered include publishing strategy, mobile game monetisation and investment, and region-specific panel discussions such as payment options and mobile game localisation in Southeast Asia.
The conference will also feature an indie game developer competition: the Indie Pitch Arena. The contest will require 15 indie developers to pitch their best game idea in front of an audience and a panel of judges for a shot of winning a US$2,000 grand prize.
This year will be the second time that GMGC is holding the Mobile Game Conference. Last year's edition of the event was held at Westin Hotel, Singapore, on 18 July 2014 and saw the participation of 400 delegates.
Headquartered in Beijing, GMGC aims to enable mobile game companies to gain access to new markets. It currently hosts mobile game conferences in China and is actively expanding its footprint in Southeast Asia.
