MEGAPOD is a multichannel broadcast monitoring and playout facility, dubbed as the first of its kind in the Asia Pacific.

Digital media services provider, Encompass Digital Media, has recently launched its new broadcast monitoring facility, the MEGAPOD.

"MEGAPOD is a one-of-its-kind facility in Asia which enables our customers to manage and monetise their media assets in a more efficient and error-free environment,” said Deepakjit Singh, Managing Director of Encompass Digital Media Asia. “The innovative design and fully automated processes enable real-time monitoring and processing of the content for delivery across the globe on multiple screens.”

According to its media statement, the MEGAPOD is the first-of-its-kind multichannel broadcast monitoring and playout facility with multi-channel and multi-format for linear and over-the-top (OTT) delivery capabilities. Costing some US$7 million to set up, the facility can also handle up to 250 channels, from ingest to delivery across multiple screens.

The MEGAPOD offers broadcasters a ready infrastructure for expansion, allowing the launch of a new channel approximately every two weeks. It is also reported to cut the time required to fix any anomalies, and reduce book-to-build time to less than three weeks.

Deepakjit said the facility, with its advanced technology and a pool of skilled staff, has the potential to be the media processing hub in Asia. "Currently over 120 content channels are in the process of getting on-board with the MEGAPOD and we expect this number to multiply as more clients in the region tap into our offering," added Deepakjit.
