Encompass Digital Media Asia will make it easier for content owners to expand their reach into Asia on multiple platforms with the addition of seven more channels to its already expansive portfolio.
The company has also reached a major broadcast milestone with the origination and transmission of 100 channels from its Singapore facility. With this achievement, Encompass Asia has become the largest independent playout and Teleport facility in Asia and given a significant boost to Singapore's global media hub goals.
"With digital TV subscriptions in Asia to grow quickly over the next few years, we are delighted to reach this broadcast milestone," said Deepakjit Singh, managing director for Encompass Asia. "This is in line with the rapid expansion in the media and telecommunications sectors across Asia Pacific."
Encompass Digital Media Asia provides digital media services and is an established name in global satellite and terrestrial connectivity. It has invested about US$10 million on technology upgrading for increasing productivity and bringing down the marginal cost of launching a new channel.
It also intends to invest US$20 million over the next five years into its Singapore operations for technology and infrastructure upgrading, employee up-skilling and community engagement initiatives.
Competing with China and India
These investment initiatives by Encompass Digital Media Asia will enable Singapore to compete effectively with China and India as the number of channels that this company provides end-to-end services to have increased three folds in the last two years.
Also, these investments have strengthened clients' confidence and they continue looking towards them for end-to-end digital media services. Significant capacity at Encompass Digital Media Asia's facility will help the company to attract many more content owners to play out their channels from Singapore to the rest of Asia.
Encompass Asia is currently serving a broad client base including AETN All Asia Networks and BBC Worldwide.
It is providing an extensive range of HD and SD broadcast services to some of the industry's most high-profile networks and cable channels through its premier independent Teleport.
"People in Asian countries like Vietnam, India and China, are becoming increasingly mobile and are demanding for content in different languages and formats," said Singh. "At our Singapore facility, we have the capability to convert content into over 200 formats for nearly every type of platform and delivery model. Providing our clients with the ability to expand their business models and further monetise their assets through the vast range of innovative services we offer is what differentiates us from our competitors."
