Dimension Data Taiwan will design and build a new e-commerce platform for Taiwan's newspaper group United Daily Nations (UDN).
Known as "udn shopping," the new online merchandising portal will offer a secure business-to-consumer (B2C) online shopping experience for customers with enhanced personal data privacy as one of its tenets.
Commenting on the rationale of this contract, Dimension Data says Taiwan's e-commerce experienced annual growth of 20 per cent in recent years and generated business value of US$15.4 billion in 2010.
Encouraged by the growth, the Taiwanese government aims to grow the market to US$33.33 billion by 2015.
The government also intends to pour US$15 million to develop Taiwan's e-commerce industry under a five-year programme from 2010-2014.
Tapping e-commerce marketplace
Dimension Data helps clients plan, build, support, manage, improve and innovate their ICT infrastructures.
UDN wanted to secure its position in Taiwan's burgeoning e-commerce marketplace, and thus chose Dimension Data to design and build a secure e-commerce platform for the company.
