2-year multi-million-dollar global contract signed

DHL Express and DNV Petroleum Services (DNVPS) have extended their green partnership for another two years, the logistics company announced on 14 May.

DNVPS is a marine fuel management services provider and is the first auxiliary service provider in the global maritime industry to enter into an agreement for the DHL GOGREEN Carbon Neutral shipping services in 2011.

This two-year contract worth S$5 million (approximately EUR3.2 million), will see DNVPS use the DHL GOGREEN Carbon Neutral service as well as DHL's outbound and regional inbound express transport services for their sampling equipment and bunker oil samples for testing respectively, DHL said in an announcement.

The service was adopted across DNVPS' global markets, including its specialist laboratories in Singapore, Oslo, Rotterdam, Houston and Fujairah.

Since embarking on the green journey with DHL in 2011, DNVPS has shipped more than 90,000 GOGREEN shipments, offsetting 1,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide in two years.

"As a global logistics provider, we ensure the sustainability of our company by continuously improving the way we do business The transport sector accounts for 13 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, we therefore take responsibility to address the environmental challenges faced both by us and our customers seriously," said Yasmin Aladad Khan, senior vice president, DHL Express Southeast Asia.

DHL Express was the first global logistics company to offer carbon neutral shipping services to its customers through its GoGreen programme.
