SINGAPORE, 30 JUNE 2011 - Deutsche Post DHL has entered a partnership with communications service provider BT to jointly develop new logistics service offerings and solutions. Under the Global Innovation Partnership agreement, BT will support the logistic firm’s research and development unit, DHL Solutions & Innovations.
According to a media statement issued on Tuesday (28 June) by BT, the first plan for the firms will be to provide RFID (radio frequency identification) solutions that enable the end-to-end visibility of information required in today’s increasingly complex supply chains.
The partners have also identified additional areas for research and development including security solutions for the supply chain and green and sustainable logistics.
The key focus will be on supporting customers in the emerging markets of the Asia Pacific, where BT is currently investing to provide next-generation infrastructure and supply chain capabilities.
As part of the deal, BT will have access to the DHL Innovation Centre to test and showcase new solutions.
