North Carolina's CommScope said it has completed the acquisition of Australia-based Argus Technologies barely three months after the acquisition was first announced.
CommSope, which specialises in developing infrastructure solutions for communications networks, announced last June that it would acquire Argus as they are interested in Argus' antenna solutions portfolio. CommScope said the Argus solutions will be integrated into their infrastructure solutions to strengthen CommScope's position in the market.
Argus's portfolio of technologies includes high-performance, and high technology antennas for base stations, stadiums and venues, and other wireless applications.
"We welcome the Argus team to CommScope and are excited about our future together as we help customers evolve their networks to new technologies and address challenges presented by today's data hungry, on-the-go society," said Randy Crenshaw, executive vice president and chief operating officer, CommScope.
CommScope said Argus' technologies will help deepen CommScope's research and development capabilities, and accelerate its growth in the wireless market.
The growing demand for wireless solutions has prompted CommScope to find ways to strengthen its infrastructure portfolio. The company said wireless carriers, enterprises, and broadband service providers are beefing up their communications infrastructure and it wants to help the market meet the demands of consumers and enterprises alike.
"We are very excited to work with the distinguished team from Argus and look forward to building upon their excellent technology, proven innovation and specialised solutions such as high capacity antennas for large venues," said Paul Bell, senior vice president and general manager, Base Station Antennas and Microwave Products, CommScope. "Argus will be a strong fit for us as we continue to support wireless operators globally in their evolution to new technologies and their drive to meet the ever-increasing bandwidth needs of consumers and businesses."
When the acquisition was first announced, CommScope said Argus' top operating executives are expected to continue in "active roles."
Terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
