Nanyang Polytechnic raises cloud computing solutions awareness for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Singapore's Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) is raising cloud computing solutions awareness for small and medium-sized enterprises through its newly established Cloud Enablement Centre (CEC).

This initiative is supported by Singapore infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF), through its Cloud Computing Chapter.

The CEC will be officially opened today by Eddie Chau, chairman of SiTF, Albert Tay, chairman of SiTF Cloud Computing Chapter and Lai Poh Hing, director of school of IT, NYP.

In addition to raising awareness, the centre will focus on developing capabilities and fostering adoption of cloud computing solutions especially for the SMEs.

"The CEC will provide an interactive platform for IT vendors to showcase their cloud computing solutions to industry partners and customers. Through this, we hope more companies will understand the impact of cloud computing solutions on their business and encourage adoption." said Albert Tay, chairman of SiTF Cloud Computing Chapter.

Developing innovative solutions

Several vendors are exhibiting at the (CEC) including 1-Net, IBM, Microsoft, NCS, Oracle, Salesforce and Tala Communications.

The CEC will showcase cloud computing solutions from vendors in the software-as-a-service (SAAS), platform-as-a-service (PAAS) and infrastructure-as-a-service (IAAS) areas.

Nanyang Polytechnic is a premier tertiary institution that offers quality education in information technology, engineering, design, interactive & digital media, chemical & life sciences, business management and health sciences.

"NYP is pleased to partner SiTF to launch the Cloud Enablement Centre. This collaboration complements our effort in developing students with cloud computing expertise to meet the growing demand from the industry," said Lai of NYP. "The centre will also be a good platform for our staff and students to develop innovative and industry-relevant cloud solutions and services for enterprises including SMEs."
