Citrix secures Dimension Data’s BYOD progamme across Asia Pacific

Citrix XenDesktop and NetScaler enable Dimension Data employees across 13 countries to work on their preferred device of choice.

Dimension Data has deployed Citrix's solutions to enhance its Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) programme for laptops in its 60 offices across 13 countries in the Asia Pacific region.

According to a joint statement, the implementation of Citrix's desktop virtualisation solution XenDesktop and its networking solution NetScaler has allowed Dimension Data to enable workforce mobility and choice of device.

Citrix XenDesktop was chosen to deliver apps and desktops as secure mobile services while centralising control and security for intellectual property. Since the solution instantly mobilises five generations of apps for use on any device, anywhere, it helps reduce the transaction times of client/server apps by as much as 300 percent. Dimension Data is thus able to enhance end-user experience and provide employees with a native touch-enabled look-and-feel that is optimised for each type of device and network. At the same time, the XenDesktop simplifies desktop management for Dimension Data's IT team.

Citrix NetScaler, on the other hand, was deployed to ensure that Dimension Data's employees are always able to enjoy a secure and seamless virtual desktop experience from any personal or corporate device.  The solution ensures security for remote access with network-layer and application-layer protection that control traffic while blocking potentially unsafe traffic, as well as prevent service attacks for all devices accessing the network.

Furthermore, Citrix NetScaler enables Dimension Data's IT administrators to exercise granular and adaptive access controls using a wide range of methods for user authentication. The methods include user identity and role, location, time of day and security status of the device. This thus heightens application security, data protection and compliance management for the organisation.

"[Citrix's solutions have enabled us] to minimise downtime allowing us, for example, to perform software updates and maintenance from a single location," commented Sean Lawrence, Chief Information Officer for Dimension Data Asia Pacific. "Additionally, IT management is now streamlined, allowing for a greater focus on more strategic initiatives to drive business value and lower our total cost of operation," he added.
