CITIC Telecom launches new corporate identity, offers new services

'Secure, high-performance' cloud services targeted at AP customers.

Hong Kong's CITIC Telecom International CPC recently launched a new cloud service offering in line with its new corporate identity.

CITIC Telecom's SmartCLOUD services will complement the company's managed network services. This  bundling of services allows companies in the Asia Pacific region to avail themselves of high-performance cloud services securely but be more in-control of their cloud resources. CITIC Telecom touts its cloud offering as "smarter, faster and high-performance" with disaster recovery capabilities, using two geographically-separate data centres.

The company said the way they packaged their services was in response to what the market expects from their services provider.

CITIC Telecom said it has conducted a market study among Singapore companies and the results show that 38 percent of respondents said they plan to implement cloud solutions in the next six to 12 months. Respondents said they want the cloud solutions to include e-mail, remote desktops and data storage solutions with the necessary security controls in place. Service availability and recovery capabilities are also the top features that respondents said they want with the cloud solutions.

Market research 

CITIC Telecom also cited market studies showing demand for cloud services in Singapore. The  Singapore Information Technology Report Q2 2011 by Business Monitor International noted that multinationals, and small and medium enterprises in Singapore alike want efficiencies in their operations from cloud computing.

CITIC Telecom also cited a study by IDC which estimated that the demand for public cloud computing in Singapore is likely to grow to US$188 million by 2014.

Aside from bundling CITIC Telecom's managed network services with a secure and reliable SmartCLOUD services, the company is also offering a virtual server solution branded SmartCLOUD Compute; and a set of e-mail, calendaring and collaboration tools named SmartCLOUD M@il.

Corporate identity

CITIC Telecom announced the launch of the new cloud services along with the introduction of the new corporate identity. The company said the new corporate look aligns them with the brand of their parent company, CITIC Telecom International Holdings Limited of Hong Kong.

Ho added that the CITIC subsidiary has also created an early adopter's programme for its SmartCLOUD services and they have already signed on with a Singapore client for a seven-year subscription contract. This prompt response to the company's programme shows that Singapore companies are receptive to adopting cloud computing solutions.
