China Mobile International (CMI) has launched Jego, a VoIP mobile application, to grow its international retail business.

According to the mobile company, Jego is available for free on iOS and Android platforms for users outside of China.

The company said in a statement that Jego is unique in that it is the only mobile application to offer the renting and binding of China Mobile numbers in the world which makes it ideal for those who wish to be connected with people in Mainland China for business or leisure.

For overseas Chinese, who already have a China Mobile number, they can now retain their number and bind it with Jego to enjoy free roaming incoming calls. For other overseas users, they can now rent a China Mobile number to receive unlimited free calls and use Jego to make international calls at high quality and low cost anywhere in the world.

Jego also allows users to send text messages, share pictures, and make voice and video calls within the application at no extra charge.

"I am proud to introduce Jego internationally, an application which is going to benefit people with close connections to China, in particular overseas Chinese, and provide a whole new experience." said Dr. Tiger LIN Zhenhui, Chairman and CEO, China Mobile International. "In the past, if people wanted to continue to use their Chinese numbers overseas, they had to carry an extra SIM card with high roaming tariffs. Now people can make calls to and receive calls from China through Jego worldwide as if they were in China."

"Allowing users to rent and bind Chinese numbers anywhere in the world is just the beginning," added Dr. John Jiang, CTO, China Mobile International. "China Mobile is building a Jego Alliance of mobile and fixed line operators around the world to allow Jego users to rent or bind multiple numbers from different countries. This means that expensive IDD and roaming services become a thing of the past, realizing China Mobile's vision of 'Communications without Borders'."

According to official sources, Jego's 'Pay As You Go' Plan charges $0.022/min for calls to China, and $0.023/min for calls to Hong Kong.

China Mobile International (CMI) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Mobile Limited, the world's largest mobile operator in terms of network scale, customer base and market value.
