Brocade Communications Inc. has garnered awards from a market research firm and from an industry online magazine that covers telecoms and networking. A press statement by the San Jose, CA, US-based data and storage networking solutions provider said the two awards were handed out by Infonetics Research and Internet Telephony magazine, respectively.
The 2014 Infonetics Research Annual Enterprise Networking and Communication Scorecard ranked Brocade second only to Cisco Systems Inc. and a notch ahead of the Hewlett Packard Company.
On the other hand, Internet Telephony magazine handed out the NFV Pioneer Award to Brocade for its development of the Vyatta 5600 vRouter.
The Infonetics Research scorecard profiles, analyses and ranks the seven largest vendors of enterprise networking and communications equipment.
The Internet Telephony NFV Pioneer Award honours innovative products judged to have advance network functions virtualization.
The 2014 Infonetics Annual Enterprise and Networking Vendor Scorecard requires that vendors to be examined must have earned in 2013 more than US$750 million in enterprise networking and communications equipment revenues.
Brocade garnered a score of 3.3-against Cisco's 4.6 and Hewlett Packard's 3.2.
Internet Telephony magazine cited the Vyatta 5600 vRouter as the first virtual router capable of providing advanced routing in software without sacrificing the reliability and performance associated with hardware networking solutions, claimed the Brocade press statement.
