Mining company Anglo American has awarded a contract to HCL Technologies for global end-user computing and data centre services.
Under the contract, HCL will improve the operational efficiency of Anglo American's end-to-end infrastructure, including data centre and hosting services, email services, service desk, local area network and security management and on-site IT services, using a hybrid of on-premise and cloud technologies.
Anglo American's chief information technology officer and head of global infrastructure, David Heppenstall, said: "We are confident they [HCL] will become an effective long-term partner for Anglo American."
In 2011, Anglo American awarded a multi-year application development and management services contract to Accenture, in an effort to cut costs.
