Ajmal Perfumes eyes Asian market

Improves its product design processes and adopts Autodesk Digital Prototyping software for competitive advantage.

Dubai-based manufacturer and retailer of fragrance Ajmal Perfumes is eyeing the Asian market.

The company recognises the need to gain a competitive advantage to enter Asia and has adopted Autodesk Digital Prototyping software to this end.

Autodesk provides 3D design, engineering and entertainment software. It has shortened time to market, increased its manufacturing capacity, and can deliver more complex product design for Ajmal Perfumes with its 3D design workflow.

The design team can now deliver new design presentations quickly. The software allows Ajmal Perfumes to present multiple options easily and quickly, as well as make changes and final production design faster to implement and present. Autodesk software also allows the Ajmal design team to create more complicated designs.

Encouraged by the improvements, Ajmal plans to continue using Autodesk software, and expects a greater integration of design software and production facilities, looking forward. All these are expected to help it enter the lucrative Asian market.

“Autodesk solutions have provided us with substantial time savings over our previous implementations. The new arrangement is 50 percent faster and allows us to move on to new projects a lot quicker," said Abdulla Ajmal, general manager, Ajmal Perfumes.  “Most importantly, we are now able to visualise designs in 3D, which allows us to eliminate any flaws that appear and deliver a design that is more or less in its final production form.”

Efficient solution

Ajmal Perfumes retails its own brand of fragrance products for the body and home, mainly across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. It searched for an efficient solution after increasing production to around 200 new designs every year.

Before switching to Autodesk the company was using 2D design software for new perfume bottles, applicators and packaging. A design team of three typically spent one week to design a single new product but the time increased when the company increased production.

The 2D design software was difficult to understand by the design team in addition to being very time consuming and process intensive. Ajmal Perfumes decided on Autodesk software, and took only six months to plan, train and rollout.

Solutions from Autodesk have provided Ajmal with significant time savings over its previous implementations and enabled it to visualise designs in 3D. Additional tools have helped the company to simplify the creation process.

“Both Inventor and 3ds Max Design software have been extremely beneficial for us,” added Abdulla. “Autodesk technology lets us visualise a design before we actually make it. This allows us to make changes, without having to invest anything more than time. I think that is invaluable."
