Zero-cost Web startup for Malaysian SMBs: Exabytes

Founded in Penang, Web hosting provider Exabytes rolls out a new website package under the national 'Get Malaysian Business Online' business grant initiative.

Under the national 'Get Malaysian Business Online' (GMBO) business grant initiative, Malaysian Web hosting provider Exabytes Network (Exabytes) is offering a complete website zero cost startup package for local small and medium business.

Called 'Instant Website Bundle,' Exabytes chief executive officer and founder Chan Kee Siak said the plan is called 'Instant Website Bundle' and supports the national regulator Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission (MCMC) GMBO initiative.

Chan said the package is part of Exabytes' 'OnlineLahTauke!' (local slang for 'Let's go online, boss!') campaign and allows small and medium businesses (SMBs) to set up their own business domain with a professional website and unlimited email accounts within 14 days.

"Today, there are more than two billion Internet users in the world," he said. "It's undeniably that e-commerce has long changed the way businesses are conducted. e-commerce is growing popular and becoming the best option for people with busy schedules to shop at anytime, anywhere."

"At the same time, due to the vibrant mobility trends and advanced gadgetry, more Gen-Ys consumers are getting active online. In Malaysia alone, we are seeing more people depending on the Internet to pay bills, interact with friends, colleagues and family, search for jobs and many more," said Chan.

GMBO 2.0 is an initiative under Malaysia Budget 2013 to help 50,000 micro businesses especially women entrepreneur to start Internet business.

MCMC business grant

"Extending business online is about helping entrepreneurs to reach out to new and unlimited market potentials," he said. "Today, in response to the launch of  "Get Malaysian Business Online" (GMBO) business grant initiated by MCMC, companies can obtain up to RM1,000 (US$331) incentive on setting up an online presence."
 
"Businesses can use the GMBO's business grant to offset their online startup costs with 'Instant Website Bundle' to own a website, a business domain and email accounts at zero cost," said Chan.
 
He said some of the other features of 'Instant Website Bundle'  included a four-page instant website design, one-year domain name validation, one-year Web hosting service with 24×7 technical supports. "In addition, Exabytes offers a website builder which allows companies to easily make changes to their website appearance and content by themselves with more than 840 website design templates."

"Despite the global business reach out, SMBs also can save up a huge significant cost in business setup, branding and marketing and business operation by setting up an online presence. Thus, they are enabled to sell their product at a more competitive price as compared to physical retail merchants," said Chan.
