Xiamen Airlines taps on Worldpay to support its expansion into new markets

Adrian M. Reodique | June 7, 2016
The airline aims to add Australia, Canada, Holland, and the United States to its destinations.

Xiamen Airlines - the flagship airline of Xiamen City in China - has selected Worldpay to be its online payment provider and help it expand into new international markets.

"We needed a partner that could help take our business to the next level internationally. As the payments provider of choice for China's top national airlines, Worldpay was the ideal company to help us meet that ambition, and the improvements we've seen to-date have certainly proven we made the right choice. We look forward to achieving further successes with Worldpay as we continue to expand into new markets," said Xiamen Airlines in a press statement.

Xiamen Airlines is in the process of adding new long-haul destinations including Australia, Canada, Holland, and the United States. Hence, the airline needed a global payment provider with scale and international expertise to help them establish an e-commerce presence in China and abroad.

According to Worldplay, Xiamen Airlines has seen 90 percent payment acceptance rates across all its markets since implementing its end-to-end payments system. The payments system provider added that it helped the airline gain more insights about their customers' purchasing habits in each market to help it better tailor its online services to their preferences.

"Xiamen Airlines has embarked on an ambitious growth programme, and in today's market that means it must deliver a robust online experience for travellers everywhere. By working with Worldpay, Xiamen Airlines has taken this one step further, building our years of international experience and insight into local payment habits into its e-commerce strategy," said Stuart Thornton, VP Business Development, Global eCommerce at Worldpay.
