Which versions of the iPhone will run Apple iOS 7? Read on to find out if your iPhone or iPad will run iOS 7.

Apple has revealed that iOS 7 will be available to download on Wednesday 18 September. The latest version of its mobile operating system for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, has a design that is a major departure from iOS 6, with a flatter, cleaner look and a vibrant palette of pastel-tinged colours and translucency effects. "You can actually see behind the icons," said Tim Apple boss Tim Cook.

Which iPhones will be able to run iOS 7?
Apple has said that iOS 7 will be compatible with the iPhone 4, the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5. We now know that it will also be compatible with the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.

Here are the iOS devices that will run iOS 7, but note, some will not be able to take advantage of all the features:

  • iPhone 5S
  • iPhone 5C
  • iPhone 5
  • iPhone 4S - you won't be able to use Filters in the camera app or Air Drop
  • iPhone 4 - in addition to the above, you won't be able to take Panoramic photos or use Siri.
  • iPad 4
  • iPad 3 - you won't be able to use Filters in the camera app, Panorama photos, or Air Drop
  • iPad 2 - all the above, plus, no square photos or videos, and no Siri.
  • iPad mini
  • 5th generation iPad touch
