MyTransport.SG app shows space availability on buses, improved arrival times
Enhanced MyTransport.SG app

Commuters in Singapore will now be able to check if there are seats available on selected bus services via a new feature on the MyTransport.SG mobile app.

Developed by the Land Transport Authority's (LTA), MyTransport.SG app provides information to help commuters better plan their journey.

The new feature will show a coloured line beneath the bus arrival time to indicate the space availability in the bus, according to LTA's press statement. A green line indicates that there are seats available, yellow means that there is standing space available, and red indicates limited standing space.

The enhanced MyTransport.SG app will also now display more accurate bus arrival information for more than 4,700 public buses over 360 routes. LTA said this is the result of the partnership with SBS Transit and SMRT, which saw the implementation of a new centralised system to determine real-time bus locations.

The system showed an overall accuracy of 80 percent within a window of up to three minutes for bus arrival estimations during initial testing. LTA said it expects improved accuracy as it fine-tunes the system but notes that factors such as traffic conditions and GPS signal strengths can still affect bus operations.
