U Mobile is the first Malaysian telco to collaborate with US electronics retailer RadioShack's Southeast Asian debut by setting up stores at the recently opened RadioShack centres in two major Kuala Lumpur malls - The Gardens Mall and Mid Valley Megamall.
The 90-year-old US retailer opened its Kuala Lumpur stores on 20 September 2012 through local franchise operator Berjaya RadioShack officiated by His Excellency Paul W Jones, the U.S. ambassador to Malaysia who was accompanied by Tan Sri Vincent Tan, chairman of U Mobile and Jaffa Sany Ariffin.
U Mobile chief executive officer, Jaffa Sany Ariffin, said: "Broadening distribution channels has always been one of our strategies and priorities, and this tie-up helps us meet customers' needs for greater accessibility and convenience to our products and services. We are indeed honoured to be collaborating with Berjaya RadioShack as it carries some of the world's most innovative electronic and technology products in the market and we believe both U Mobile and RadioShack will greatly benefit from this collaboration."
The collaboration signals another addition to the company's existing partnership with non-traditional distribution channels including Giant (GCH Retail), Singer, 7-Eleven and Cosway, making the telco's total distribution channels more than 22,000 outlets nationwide.
