Panasonic launches ultra-light tough notebook, the CF-SX2.

Japanese electronics firm Panasonic Systems has launched an enterprise level rugged ultra-light notebook for mobile professionals in Malaysia, it said.

Speaking on 2 October 2012, Panasonic Systems, general manager, Toughbook Asia group, Amos Tio said the new Panasonic Toughbook CF-SX2 comprises enterprise-level technology with an ultra-long battery lifespan of up to 14 hours as well as 3G connectivity.

With a steadily increasing number of professionals bringing their work and meetings beyond the office, mobility has become a crucial factor in determining business success today, said Tio.

"The demands of doing business today have created an increasingly mobile workforce, and business professionals are constantly on the move to meet clients and partners," he said. "The Panasonic CF-SX2 was designed to be the perfect companion for these professionals, by merging enterprise-level technologies with an extremely long battery life. Users are able to boost their productivity through spending longer hours in the field achieving business objectives."

Tio said the Panasonic CF-SX2 featured a light, strong magnesium alloy casing, which reduced overall weight by up to 33 percent. "The unit also has an efficient and ergonomic circular scrolling touchpad that is customisable to suit individual preferences. The device has been drop-tested in operation mode from a height of up to 76cm, and can withstand up to 100kgf of pressure."

The Panasonic CF-SX2 also has two USB 3.0 ports for fast transfer speeds, a HDMI port for easy high-definition output, an SDXC slot for storage expansion or convenient memory access, a 720p webcam and built-in microphone, WLAN A/B/G/N and Bluetooth 4.0 to effortlessly maintain connections with family, friends and colleagues worldwide. With a built-in WWAN adapter, the Panasonic CF-SX2 provides constant Internet connectivity to ensure consistent business productivity for the mobile worker.

Each Panasonic CF-SX2 unit, which is available at Jardine OneSolution in Malaysia, will come with a copy of Windows 7 Professional (32-bit/64-bit version).
