The CEO of one of the biggest media and entertainment companies in the world, Time Warner, has said that he hopes Apple makes a television.
Speaking at Business Insider's IGNITION conference, the CEO, Jeff Bewkes, said "I hope they do" when he was asked what he thought about the idea of an Apple making a television set. "I think Apple is a great device company," he added.
Speculation about an Apple branded television set (dubbed iTV) has been circulating the web since further back than 2011, and the latest prediction from Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster suggests that the device will arrive in November 2013.
Bewkes said during the interview this week that Apple can solve some of the problems with the television business, in particular the way we navigate through the hundreds of channels we are offered. He said that Apple "bring good interface and navigation skills."
However, Bewkes believes that Apple won't be alone in venturing into the TV market. He thinks that Apple will see a lot of competition, and that we'll see "as many interfaces as you can get."
The Apple television is rumoured to be between 42-55in in size, with an ultra-high definition display, Siri integration, motion control, a built-in games console and more.
